About the Hotel
Only 20 minutes from the airport & Palma, surrounded by 20,000m2 of landscaped gardens including its own vineyard, situated at the foot of the Tramuntana Mountains this converted manor house is now a totally unique luxury hotel.
In 1988, London lawyer Vivian Read bought the derelict Ca'n Moragues estate manor house in Santa María, Mallorca and took on the challenge of converting it into a small, luxury hotel.
Six years and a lot of effort later the project was finally completed.
Vivian Read, his wife, son and daughter have made the house into something very personal, maintaining the charm of a small country house hotel while providing all the comfort you'd expect from a luxury hotel.
Reads Hotel & Spa also boasts two restaurants both of which are open to non residents.
The á la carte restaurant, awarded it's first Michelin star in 2002 under the auspices of Head Chef Marc Fosh, and our Bistro33 which offers a daily changing menu.
Reads opened its doors in April 1995 and became a part of Relais & Chateaux in 2002.
In 2003 it was awarded "The Most Excellent Country Hotel in Europe 2003" Condé Nast Johansens.

Time writer Alex Perry reviews Reads restaurant
Nothing at Read's is run of the mill and it is part of its charm and eccentricity. This hotel, frequented by a mixture of the quietly rich and quietly famous, manages to provide an oasis of calm within its honey coloured stone walls. Chef Marc Fosh, whose cappuccino of lobster and coconut with caviar has been described as "sex on a plate." Bliss.
The Daily Mail
"Read's combines 5 star luxury with decorative idiosyncrasy. Its friendly, fun and has one of the Islands best restaurants."
The Sunday Times
“At first sight you might think some designer purchased a job lot from the Lanes in Brighton. But they are a lovingly built collection by Vivian Read that stamps its character on to the unique hotel. The food by Marc Fosh, who started life at London’s Greenhouse, is up there with the best on the Island.”
Andrew Lloyd Webber, The Daily Telegraph
